The collection contains reminiscences and memorabilia relating to Veda Reynolds, the majority gathered on the occasion of a tribute program that was organized at the Curtis Institute of Music after her death in 2000. The collection includes an oral history conducted by Diana Steiner in Paris, 1999.

Biographical Note

Veda Reynolds attended the Curtis Institute of Music from 1938 to 1942, where she studied with Efrem Zimbalist. Upon graduation she joined the Curtis faculty (1942-1961) and became a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra, where she was concertmaster in the 1958-59 season. She formed the Philadelphia String Quartet with three other members of the orchestra, which became the quartet-in-residence of the University of Washington in 1966. She taught at the North Carolina School of the Arts (1975-1977) and at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Lyon after moving to France.
