The Philip Frank Collection includes scrapbooks and programs that documenti the early career of Philip Frank. The scrapbooks contain clippings, programs, and miscellenous materials, including performances in the Netherlands, Germany, and France in 1935, with some handwritten copies and transcriptions from Dutch and German. Accompanists during these tours include Curtis students Bernard Frank (Accompanying ’35) and Elizabeth Westmoreland (Accompanying ’36).

Biographical note

Philip Frank studied violin with Lacy Coe, Leopold Auer, and Eddy brown before attending the Curtis Institute of Music as a student of Efrem Zimbalist from 1929 to 1934. He was a member of the NBC Symphony under Arturo Toscanini, and was concertmaster of the North York Symphony Orchestra from 1979 to 1990, when he retired.
