|Series 1. Scrapbook “Tribute to Tabuteau” 1966-1978
After Tabuteau’s death in 1966 the Rittenhouse Square Committee for the Philadelphia Orchestra established the Marcel Tabuteau Memorial Fund with two aims: fund scholarships and grants-in-aid for talented oboe students and commission a work in his memory to be performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra. The resulting composition, “Trail of Beauty” by David Amram, premiered in 1976 with former Tabutean student John de Lancie (oboe) and Rose Taylor (mezzo-soprano).
